TRANSFER OF THE TEMPORARY
BRIDGE IN ÚSTÍ NAD LABEM

Dr. Edvard Beneš Bridge, built in 1934-1936, is 90 years old and it required reconstruction. The bridge connects the urban areas of Ústí nad Labem and its district of Střekov over the Elbe River in a length of 175 m. When the bridge was closed, it became necessary to replace pedestrian and bicycle access. Therefore, a temporary bridge was constructed to serve as the current access route to both urban areas.

The temporary bridge structure is a replica of bridges of this type, with the same length of 175 m but a different design , resulting in a main span of 67 m. However, this span was extended, necessitating support within the main bridge span. We designed a 4 x PMSS pontoon set with stabilizing supports and a modular system on its own fully hydraulically adjustable base , which can smoothly accommodate the deflection of the structure during extension. For our own extension, we used 2 x MTB10 with a capacity of 2 x 10 tons, ensuring smooth movement of the structure, which took one day for the advanced section.

Thanks to our technology, it is possible to build a support in the river within one day, then move the bridge and remove the support the following day. This represents a significant time-saving, as it does not require disturbing the riverbed and thereby preserves the natural environment.
